SKILL SPREAD: Beginner to low intermediate (under 3.0)
Where NoVA pickleball began. Players have been on this gym floor since the 1980s — wooden paddles and all — and the crews that started here later seeded Glyndon, Fairfax, McLean, Pickleballerz, and the Fieldhouse. 5 indoor courts (3 in the Field House, 2 in the Auxiliary Gym). AUG 2026 (since corrected): a player reported a session schedule here — advanced play Mon & Wed 11–1 and Fri 11–2, beginners Mon 2–3, all levels Fri 12:45–2. See the September update below before relying on it. UPDATE (Sept 14 2026, from a player who went and asked): THERE IS NO ADVANCED PLAY. Staff confirmed it is all open play, all levels, with no session split by skill. The players there that day were beginner to low intermediate. Expect to set the nets up yourself — about 10 minutes out of your court time. Reported free for residents, around $3–5 for non-residents; confirm at the desk. SAFETY NOTE (Sept 2026): with 12 players on, staff added a third net directly beside the other two — the nets were touching, leaving under a foot between courts. A player raised it as a collision risk chasing wide balls and was not acted on. Worth knowing before you commit to a session. Best fit: under 3.0 and looking for friendly, casual, cheap indoor play. If you want 3.5+ games, look elsewhere.

All in all it was not what was mentioned here - there is no advanced play. The players who showed up today were all beginner to low intermediate - which is fine but just not what I was looking for. You have to set up the nets which takes 10ish minutes which is not a problem but does eat into the play time. After my second game there were a total of 12 people playing and they set up a third net literally right next to the other two courts (the nets were touching) such that there was a foot or less of space in between. This is a horrible idea and fairly dangerous as running to the side to get balls that go at angels is very common and crashing into others would be fairly easy to do. I mentioned it wasn't a good idea but was ignored. If you are a beginner to low interemediate (under 3.0) it could be a good experience for free or $5. To reiterate, there is no advanced play, I asked the staff there and they said it's all open play for all levels.
